An inspector. When you purchase the home, you’re going to need an inspector to inspect the home to make sure it’s solid.
The thing about all these things you’re going to be doing, I would trust a local person that you know that has experience with inspectors or mortgage companies, insurance agencies, and that sort of thing. On the insurance end of it, do not skimp on the insurance. Do not buy price and price alone. There are several factors that will come into play with your homeowners insurance.
It could be:
- Age of the roof
- The location
- Any updates on the home, like roof, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, things like that.
You want to make sure to review all your coverages. Just for examples:
- You’ve got property liability coverage
- You’ve got replacement costs on your contents in your home
- There’s going to be deductible options
